Restoring Trust and Confidence in City Leadership is my Priority #1:

In the business world, trust isn’t just a value—it’s a competitive advantage.

What if Medicine Hat’s next big step wasn’t about one project, but about the culture we build together through unity and partnership? Imagine our city’s strength coming from leaders across council, businesses, community groups, and institutions, all working with a shared purpose.

That’s the future I envision. And as I wrote in my first platform point:

“When we lead with humility and unity, we rebuild trust. This gives Medicine Hat the collective voice to secure the partnerships our city deserves.”

Why Trust Matters to Economic Growth

Trust is not abstract. It shows up in results:

  • 93–94% of business leaders say trust directly improves organizational performance and deal-making success (PwC, 2023; Harvard Law, 2023).
  • Companies that are highly trusted by stakeholders outperform their peers by up to 400%, with 88% higher customer retention (Forbes, 2023).
  • Internally, high-trust teams report 50% higher productivity, 76% more engagement, and 13% fewer sick days (Deloitte, 2021; Realize Solutions, 2023).

These metrics reflect more than just shareholder returns. They demonstrate Return on Engagement (ROE), the tangible impact of investing in trust-based relationships both inside and outside your organization.

The Missed Opportunities—and the Path Forward

Medicine Hat has had its share of challenges lately. We’ve seen investments stall and heard concerns about transparency and engagement. Instead of focusing on the past, let’s look forward and ask ourselves:

What if we could change the tone and trajectory by leading with trust?

What If…

…local business owners were proactively engaged in planning before infrastructure decisions impacted them?

…cultural and Indigenous leaders had a permanent seat at the economic development table?

…investors saw us not just as a growing city, but as a collaborative one with a shared, stable voice?

This is what makes a city ready for investment. It’s not just about offering incentives. It’s about creating a climate of trust and predictability.

Let’s Build It—Together

This campaign isn’t about politics for its own sake. It’s about building an economy that reflects our values, strengths, and shared vision. We aim to be recognized not only for what we offer, but also for how we lead.

– Let’s turn trust into traction.

– Let’s shift from fragmented voices to shared purpose.

– Let’s build the Medicine Hat investors and residents can believe in.

—-Let’s turn that “what if” into what’s next—-

What would it take for you to trust City leadership more deeply—with your business, your investments, or your ideas?
